Tracks at the TxSGS 2019 Family History Conference are designed to help you concentrate on a specific area of research or skill development. Use this information as you plan your schedule.
All lectures included in your registration if you sign up for the full conference. If your register for a single day, all lectures on that are included. Workshops are optional and have limited seating. You must register in advance. Lunches with speakers are also optional and must be purchased in advance. These may be selected during registration or added before September 30.

Friday, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm – From Microfilm to Hyperspace: Billions of Family Records at Your Fingertips, Andrew Lee
While indexes help us access records on genealogy websites, there are lots of genealogically valuable records that are not searchable. The Family History Library has digitized hundreds of thousands of microfilms. Most of these images are available for online browsing. Learn how to find and browse these records on FamilySearch. Have you thought about starting your own genealogy blog, but weren’t quite sure how to do it? Most of us don’t know how a JPEG file differs from a TIFF file and whether or not that difference is important. This presentation will provide you with a basic understanding of how images are digitized, and it will familiarize you with some of the fundamental characteristics of digital image files. Learn how to import search results from web sites into spreadsheets and process them to investigate possible group migrations and family relationships. (Intermediate)
