Meets at 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of the month January; February; March; April; May; September; October; November & December.

We generally meet at the Rusk Public Library in Rusk. We sometimes meet at the Vanishing Texana Museum in Jacksonville and the Heritage Center of Cherokee County in Rusk. We have 85 books; CDs; and DVDs in print.

East Texas Genealogical Society (TxSGS Partner Society)

Meets at 2:00 PM on the 2nd Saturday of the month every month.

The East Texas Genealogical Society meets virtually and in-person at the Tyler Public Library – Taylor Auditorium; unless there is a tour scheduled elsewhere. Each meeting has a local expert or nationally known speaker who provides opportunities for the members and the community to learn how to better research and locate their family.

Meets at 7:00 PM on the 1st Tuesday of the month every month.

Meets at the Longview Public Library. Programs usually deal with a particular ancestor or history of historical buildings; etc.


Harrison County Genealogical Society (TxSGS Partner Society)

Meets at 5:30 PM on the 4th Tuesday of the month August.

The Harrison County Genealogy Society is the educational arm of the Harrison County Historical Society. Members receive a quarterly newsletter and discounted entry fee to all of our museums. We operate the Inez Hatley Hughes Historical Research Center; which holds the archives and artifacts; and is available to assist genealogical and historical researchers. We hold events throughout the year.

Marion County Genealogical Society

Meets at 10:00 AM on the 1st Saturday of the month January; February; March; April; June; July; August; September; October & November.

The MCGS meets every 1st Saturday (except May and Dec.) at 10 AM at the 1st Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Our meetings always feature a short presentation about family genealogy; local history; research methods & tricks and connections to other areas of general genealogical interest. A lively informal discussion always follows the feature presentation. We publish an annual Journal and work closely with the County Historical Commission and Jefferson Historical Society & Museum.

The Rains County Genealogy Society was organized in 1997 hoping to help people interested in researching their family tree and to help them to get started on their journey. RCGS meets at the Meadows Room of the Rains County Library; Hwy 69 (150 Doris Briggs Parkway); Emory; Texas.
