The following genealogical events are currently scheduled. This calendar includes Partner Societies that are offering one-day or multiple-day workshops and seminars, as well as national and international conferences. It does not include monthly meetings.

Bell County Genealogical Society: Beginning Genealogy Seminar

With over 30 years experience as a genealogists and personal historian, Patti Gillespie is known to bring energy and humor to her classes. She also enjoys helping beginners start their genealogical journey.

8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Sign in and Continental Breakfast (donuts, coffee, and juice)
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
“Beginning at the Beginning: Adventures in Genealogy” – Everything a beginner needs to know, starting with a digital tree, using a census, a timeline, and why multiple records are essential.
10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
“Successful Methodologies: Step by Step” – Introduces the concept that not all records are online but demonstrates how online searches can benefit finding offline documents. An introduction to using FamilySearch and Ancestry is included.
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. LUNCH
12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
“Site Searchers: A Guided Hands-on Workshop” – Beginning a digital tree, using newspaper sites, Google Books, WorldCat, and Internet Archive.
