Texas Research Essentials
Research in early Texas has its own unique issues. The Spanish and Mexican legal systems are quite different from the British common law system found in early America: social/family customs of these early settlers differed as well. Successful genealogical research during this time period will depend on the researcher’s awareness of these differences and knowledge of both systems. Learn how to apply methodology to Texas records while looking at the distinctive aspects of researching Texas records and applying techniques necessary to maximize your results.

Advanced Southern Research Techniques
Hone your skills in southern research with a focus on methodology, records, and migration patterns. Many southern states did not capture vital records in the 19th century, so researchers need to examine other records for those critical facts. Join us as we examine the records of the South, learning how, when and where to employ these tools to expand the profile and details of our ancestors and their neighbors. A sample set of records from each Southern state will be provided and used for study and comparison. Changes in boundaries, laws, and attitudes will show migration choices and explain many reasons for the push and pull that motivated our ancestors to move. Learn how records can take stories beyond “Once upon a time…”

Early Bird registration rate applies to those submitted online by April 30, 2019. Your early bird discount will be applied at check out and will show as a discount.
Online registration and payment is available through June 5, 2019. After June 5, 2019, you may register and pay in-person at the event, if space is still available.
We also offer a Student Rate for those who are registered at a college or university. You must present your valid student ID to take advantage of this rate. Registration to TIGR includes course instruction and a digital syllabus.
See Courses & Schedule for additional details. Lunch is not included; there will be a 90-minute lunch break each day and TIGR will provide a list of nearby restaurants.

Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellation requests received on or before April 30, 2019, will receive a refund less 20% of the total purchase price to cover administrative costs. Requests received between April 30 and June 1 will receive a refund less 50% of the total purchase price. No refunds will be issued after June 1, 2019. Cancellation requests must be made in writing via email to tigr@txsgs.org or registrar@txsgs.org.
