Nancy Elizabeth (Ritter) Berry Stewart Moore and her twin brother were born on 7 April 1836. Their mother, Virginia, died shortly after they were born. Their father, John, remarried and moved to Texas in the early 1840s. 

About 1854 Nancy married (1) Stephen Berry and homesteaded land in Angelina County. She had two daughters, Alice in 1856, and Mary in 1858. Stephen died before 1860. 

Nancy married (2) John Stewart in 1860 and in 1861 she had a son. John Stewart served in the Confederacy during the Civil War. After the war Nancy had another son in 1869, a daughter in 1870, a daughter in 1871, a son in 1872, and a final son in 1874. John Stewart died in 1877. 

In 1882 Nancy married (3) John Moore. 

Nancy died on 11 April 1924 at the age of 88 and is buried beside her second husband.
