CRENSHAW, ISAAC HENLY (1824–1884). Isaac H Crenshaw was born in Marion County, Alabama, to Cornelius and Mildred Parham Crenshaw. Isaac’s family moved to the Republic of Texas by the mid 1830s, where Cornelius received a 2^nd class headright in Gonzales County in July 1838. Isaac, at the age of 12, was listed along with his parents and siblings in the 1835 Sabine County Census. Isaac eventually moved further north to what was at the time Harrison County and settled in the Mt. Zion area. Isaac married Dorcas Irene (Rena) Golden in Harrison County on Oct. 23, 1845. Isaac and Rena were the parents of 9 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood. Isaac died in Panola County on July 7, 1884 and was buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery near DeBerry, Texas. The two Crenshaws were early frontier settlers of the Republic of Texas.

CRENSHAW, DORCAS IRENE GOLDEN (ca 1832–ca 1871). Dorcas Irene (Rena) Golden Crenshaw was born in Alabama about 1832 to Richard and Mary (Polly) Higgins Golden. Rena moved with her family to the Republic of Texas, arriving about December 1841. Her father, Richard, received a 3^rd class headright of 640 acres in 1845. Rena married Isaac H Crenshaw in Harrison County on Oct. 23, 1845. They had 9 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood. Rena died in Panola County about 1871 and a memorial headstone was placed for her in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near DeBerry, TX in 1977. The two Crenshaws were early frontier settlers of the Republic of Texas.
