Townsend - Asa Townsend - Brief bio

Asa Townsend was a cattleman who settled in 1838 in Columbus, Colorado County, Texas, with his wife and nine children. He owned 1,195 acres there, granted by the Texas General Land Office. In 1845, he served on the committee that drafted the preamble and resolution for the annexation of Texas by the United States.
