Carl Blumberg was born on 12 September 1845. He signed a contract with the Verein Zum Schutz Deutcher Einwanderer to bring his family to Texas. Carl, his wife Katherine Ruff Blumberg, and his family, except for son August, sailed from Bremer Hafen on 7 or 8 October 1845 for Texas on the Neptune. They reached Galveston on November 25, 1845.
Carl and Katherine were the parents of seven children: Albertine Louisa, Julius Ferdinand, August, Henriette, Friedrich A., Ernst and Hulda. The family settled in Schummansville in Guadalupe County.
Carl Blumberg died 5 November 1853 of Yellow Fever. He is buried in the Schummansville Cemetery.
