Marsh-Pitts - Shubael Marsh and Lucinda Pitts - Brief bio



Shubael Marsh was born in New Glouchester, Maine. As a young man he went to Missouri where he taught school. By January of 1822 Shubael had migrated to Texas. In 1824 he was issued a league of land in Bazoria County. He was a merchant in the town of Brazoria for many years. He was sindico procurador over an election in Bolivar. In 1832 he married Lucinda Pitts and later moved to Washington County. Marsh applied for three-fourths of a league of land on Spring Creek on 5 November 1835. He petitioned for the organization of Washington municipality and in May 1839 was a trustee of Independence Female Academy.
