Wilson-Wilhite - Jeremiah H. Wilson and Elizabeth Wilhite - Brief bio

Jeremiah H. Wilson came to Texas in 1845 as a Peters Colonist with his wife, Elizabeth Wilhite, and his three young sons. His fourth son, Francis Marion "Frank" Wilson, was born 27 April 1845 while Texas was still a Republic. Jeremiah first went to Fannin County, now Collin County, Texas, on a grant from the Peters Colony. By 1860 he had relocated to Van Zandt County where he married his second wife, Melinda Flowers. His first Elizabeth likely died by this time.

After the US Civil War Jeremiah moved his family to Denton County where he was a farmer and rancher. Jeremiah had twelve children between his two wives. Son Frank Wilson fought in the Texas Cavalry in the Civil War. He also served as a Texas Ranger during the reconstruction period. Settling in Denton County between Aubrey and Sanger County, Frank at one time was one of the wealthiest ranchers in the area. Both Jeremiah and Frank Wilson are buried in the Wilson Cemetery near Auburn, Texas.
